Still playing on the themes of memory, childhood and belonging that permeate her recent work, on this new track folk singer -songwriter Anousha Victoire uses a childhood memory to explore the notion of where we come from as a nation of migrants and displaced people, and what it means to live and grow up somewhere that isn’t where your ancestors lived.
A co-write with country singer-songwriter Kelly Cork, and featuring Jamie Pollock on violin, this track sits comfortably across both genres as a timely gentle folk-country inspired exploration of what it means to come from somewhere, and how we carry our ancestors wherever we walk.

The Reckoning

Anousha Victoire

Growing up against a very Australian backdrop of natural disasters, from an area prone to bushfires to areas affected regularly by floods, has shaped Anousha Victoire's latest storytelling song about the changing seasons. This story is the story of many of us, and our collective anxiety about the increasing unpredictability of the climate.
